The latest edition of the Knight Frank Wealth Report, released earlier this month, ranks 100 cities around the world for their appeal as places to invest, live and spend time for ultra-high-net-worth individuals, those with a net worth of more than $30 million, including their primary residence.
To identify the best cities for the ultra-rich, the study assessed and ranked each city against three main factors:
Wealth: Researchers looked at the number of both high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals in each city, using its proprietary wealth sizing model.
Investment: This factor assessed the level and diversity of private investment in real estate in each city. The latest edition also looked at the power of cities in terms of the number of global firms located there.
Lifestyle: This ranking was based on luxury measures that encourage individuals to visit a city and reside there, such as high-end hotels and restaurants, quality and number of top universities, and for the first time, connectivity — the number of national and international cities served by each city’s main airports.
